Fwd: Lily pads at Honolulu International Airport
We arrived in Hawaii relatively late at night. The airport was quiet, and nothing special, although we were given a few leis which looked and smelled great. Heading back home in the late morning, we realized in Honolulu, Hawaii, even the airport is picturesque. Accessible via stairs or elevator, there's a great garden right [...]

Photobombed by a Sea Turtle May 17, 2013, 11:24 pm

Photobombed by a Sea Turtle Silas got photobombed by a sea turtle, or maybe it was the other way around. The sea turtles seemed to like to swim and take breaks on the beach. You'd seem them moving around in the waves and then periodically they'd flop up onto the beach to soak in the sun. This [...]

Night shot in Waikiki May 16, 2013, 9:16 pm

Night shot in Waikiki On one of our evenings in Honolulu, we headed down to the beach for a little more peace and quiet. Although we didn’t have bathing suits, within minutes of getting to the beach, the kids were knee deep in the water. After a few more minutes, they were fully soaked. In hindsight, [...]

Graffiti in Seattle’s Belltown Neighborhood May 15, 2013, 9:44 am

Graffiti in Seattle’s Belltown Neighborhood I’ve always thought that cities could be more constructive with their approach to graffiti. There are a lot of walls and empty swaths of concrete. Why not liven things up with some color? In the Fremont-Ballard area we already see some efforts to make things work with the whimsical and almost ubiquitous [...]

One more beach pic from the north shore May 14, 2013, 6:56 pm

One more beach pic from the north shore

Unlike Waikiki, the north shore is serene and quiet. Just a few beach goers as far as the eye could see. We probably saw nearly as many turtles as people. The sand was warm, the sun shined brightly, and we had a great last day in Hawaii. I even managed to get both kids to look at the camera and smile, so that should tell you something.

Happy post Mother’s Day May 13, 2013, 6:52 pm

Happy post Mother’s Day Hazel and I headed down the hill yesterday to procure some colorful flora for in and outside the house. We opted for the pink and white hydrangea to go with a blue one currently in the backyard. Hazel was happy to put the flower pot in her lappy and we were fortunate to [...]

Rhododendrons across from our house May 10, 2013, 7:00 pm

Rhododendrons across from our house

In the median across from our house our friendly Fremont neighbors helped clear out the brush to expose these radiant rhododendrons. They really add some color to our neighborhood. There’s still a good bit more brush to clear, but the median is starting to look is it probably looked years ago when it was more properly manicured.

Pic from the pier in Honolulu May 9, 2013, 11:40 pm

Pic from the pier in Honolulu A friendly Aussie (or was it a Kiwi?) offered to take out picture one evening out on the small pier at Waikiki. We managed to look like a decent little family in this one. In the background you can see body boarders catching waves. I'm intrigued by the fact that body boarders [...]
