Sledding down the Fremont Hills on a Seattle snow day January 25, 2012, 9:32 pm

Last week turned out to be a great week for recreation on the streets of Seattle. We had two solid snow days where our steep streets were difficult to navigate in a car, but they were easily enjoyed on skis or snowboard or sled. This was Hazel’s first sledding adventure and she had [...]

Scooting around at lower BF Day Playground January 22, 2012, 5:22 pm

I took Silas and Hazel over to BF Day Playground during the afternoon sunbreak. He’s riding on his stable 3 wheel scooter and singing a song that mommy taught him. After most of the snow thawed out in Seattle, we were able to enjoy the flat blacktop surface. We even spent a little time working on the states with the big US map.

Icicles at Alpental below International January 21, 2012, 8:32 pm

Icicles at Alpental below International The NW winter continues going strong up in the Cascades. Another double digit (inches of) snow day. Of course this means the crowds were pretty big. Fortunately, Brett and I got up there early and managed to get in some great runs before we gave up on the 20+ minute lines. [...]

Sledding day 2 January 20, 2012, 5:20 pm

Sledding in the hills of Fremont January 18, 2012, 7:08 pm

Sledding in the hills of Fremont Seattle got a great “snow event” this morning with at least 3-4 inches falling on the hills of Fremont. Slushy Seattle snow January 15, 2012, 8:16 pm

It snowed on and off most of the day today but temps stayed pretty warm so much of the snow melted away. We decided to take a walk down to Ross Park- it was pretty deserted. More snow expected for Seattle later in the week!

Action at Silence Heart Nest January 9, 2012, 11:48 pm

Action at Silence Heart Nest On Sunday, we brought the family down to Fremont’s unique breakfast spot, Silence Heart Nest. We both went with our standbys of a Sicilian Scramble, big blueberry waffle, fruit, and more. Hazel and Silas both managed to find things the enjoyed as well. Fortunately, she didn’t eat the letter toy thing she’s [...]

Belltown P-patch Sign January 7, 2012, 8:00 pm

Belltown P-patch Sign

We parked a few blocks from the Olympic Sculpture Park, right across the street we saw the Belltown P-Patch. This p-patch has the most personality of any one I’ve seen yet. All of the mosaic artwork on the park wall looked great and went well with our afternoon at the sculpture park.

Fire truck drop off January 6, 2012, 11:32 am

Fire truck drop off

A fire truck just drove through our neighborhood and dropped off a stuffed animal for Hazel and Silas- very random!

Alpental powder from last weekend January 5, 2012, 9:12 pm

Thanks to grammy’s generous baby sitting, Angela and I were able to get a great day in at Alpental. The snow was deep and light and the sun was shining. Unfortunately, it was also a holiday weekend and the hill was absolutely packed. A full lap, from bottom to top to bottom [...]
