Glacier Peak Summit Jump July 19, 2010

Picture of Glacier Peak Summit Jump

We made the summit of Glacier Peak by 3 pm after a quicker than expected start from the car. The trail was in great condition other than the “landmines” from the pack animals. With the team of John Cain and Erick Johnson, and against the expectations of everyone we met on the trail, we were able to achieve our goal of Glacier Peak in a day.

What is the altitude? How long did it take to get back down?

Summit is 10,500 feet. Sadly, it took about as long to get down as it took to get up. Our legs were rather fatigued. At least mine were.

Thomas..
While a certain amount of exuberance is natural and expected under the circumstances, you must realize that “summit jumps” of this kind only serve to cheapen and trivialize the importance of your alpine accomplishments. Please refrain from doing this sort of thing in the future.
Thank You,
John Cain

BTW: your summit jump pic is at least better than E.J.’s which shows his hairy midriff… :0(
