Naples Botanical Garden Pond Lily Pads April 25, 2012
A few weeks ago we brought the family on a cross and down country journey from the far northwest to the far southeast. We had to hop through Houston just to get there. Seattle to Naples is not an easy journey for a family of four, but the destination sure is worth it. We’d weighed the Hawaii option, but staying continental made things cheaper and easier. The weather also proved to be at least as good as Hawaii. Naples temperatures were in the 80s every day and the sun was shining brightly. We loaded up on a full summer’s worth of vitamin d with just 1 week in Florida. One of the only times I was *almost* too hot was at the slightly inland Naples Botanical Garden. Fortunantly, the beauty, variety, and size of the place really helped me deal with the heat. And the kid’s fountains helped keep some of us cool. For us, the highlight was the flawlessly designed lily pond at the back of the gardens. The deep black look of the pond made a beautiful photographic canvas. Special thanks to grandma and papa Unger for making our stay even more fun. We love you guys and can’t wait for our next journey!
