The pass at Hidden Lakes Lookout October 19, 2011

Shirley, Dave, Silas and I headed up to the western slopes of the North Cascades and Hidden Lakes Peak and Lookout. We began in the green covered comfort at the trailhead, but could see a good bit of snow in the distance. When we got to the big bowl, the snow cover really began to increase. By the time the lookout was in view, it was apparent we wouldn’t be getting to the lookout without some mild mountaineering skills. Unfortunately, little Silas doesn’t quite have those skills yet, so we had to settle for this view up at the pass. As you can see, the only thing not covered with snow is the lake down below. Unsurprisingly, temps dipped that night, but we were thawed out by 11 or so the next morning.

Location: Hidden Lake Peaks, Washington, USA
