How It Started
Yosemite.
2018.
12 Strangers.
Three people felt it first, the isolation of running outdoor ministry on their own campuses, with leaders who didn't quite understand the drive to take people into wild places for God. They found each other. And when word got out, twelve people flew in from across the country to meet in Yosemite.
That gathering became the foundation of YWASS. A network of people who had always existed, scattered across mountains, trails, and trailheads around the world. They just needed to find each other.
Today the network has grown to roughly 50+ people across the United States and more globally. What started in a single meeting still runs on the same fuel: pick up the phone when a fellow YWASSer calls.
"Among all the other things we hope to see happen through the YWASS network, this simple act of picking up when someone calls has produced significant friendships, fruit, and breakthrough." — Unger, Co-Founder
